Who sells my ads?

Who decides which ads will run on my site?

You do. AdBrite emails you every time an order is placed for an ad on your site. You approve those orders that meet your standards and decline the rest.

Adbrite Publishers

AdBrite evolved from the idea of creating a tool to help web publishers sell their own ad space. It is an automated system that gives full publisher control to accept or deny ads, and really be able to sell their own ad space.

AdBrite is not a typical network like AdSense or YPN where it just serves ads that are targeted towards your site. AdBrite is a great incremental on top of programs like AdSense or YPN.

If you had someone who e-mailed you to buy an ad on your site for a specific amount of time, how would you respond? AdBrite is an automoated tool to help you set your price, eliminate negotiations, and provide full transparency to the advertiser and publisher.

Why use AdBrite on top of other ad services?

Imagine you knit sweaters and sell them on eBay. You typically sell a handful a month, but then you learn that one of your customers owns a chain of clothing stores. After some successful transactions, you both decide that partnering outside of eBay would be beneficial and to create a more formalized partnership. You now have something much larger than what you initially had through eBay.

AdBrite is very similar to this concept.

If you put up some premium ad spots up for sale in the marketplace you will have many advertisers who try out your site. Some will work, and some will not, but as you start to get more consistent advertisers you will be able to build larger advertising relationships and sponsorships that are completely within your control. You know who is buying ads, what they are paying, and whether they have seen success with your site (based on repurchaing). This is also the perfect lead source if you have an internal sales team selling ads for your site.

Other ad services control the advertising relationships and typically pay quite well. AdBrite is your opportunity to control your advertising relationships so that all of your revenue is not dependent upon the success of your ad network.

There is no reason not to have some inventory up for sale in the AdBrite marketplace, because the code on your site can be completely hidden, and you can set pricing, so you never know when an advertiser might come shopping through the AdBrite
Marketplace and pay the price you demand for certain inventory.

Tips and Tricks.

- Never start your pricing too high. It is better to error on the low side and get advertisers hooked, because then they will be willing to pay higher prices for your inventory when the pricing increases.

- Make sure your placement is worth buying, the popular sellers in the marketplace tend to be sites with the most premium inventory.

- Spend some time tagging your site, and giving proper demographic information

- In your site description provide ideas of advertisers that you think might convert well. You know your audience best.

- AdBrite is more successful if you sell a FEW premium placements as oppposed to just MANY backfill placements.

- Hard code all placements. because of the concreteness of "your ad here". Putting AdBrite in rotation doesn't perform as well. Just like an auction, the beginning price is never the final price.

- Allow a ramping period. AdBrite is a tool to help sell your own inventory, and think of it as a virtual salesperson for you. Any salesperson needs some time to gain traction.

- Entice advertisers with specials. You have full control to set pricing so make occasional specials to entice advertisers.

- Enable AdBrite’s auto pricing which will raise automatically as inventory sells, and lower itself as vacant inventory sits unsold.

Google AdSense

AdSense is an ad serving program run by Google. Website owners can enroll in this program to enable text, image and, more recently, video advertisements on their sites. These ads are administered by Google and generate revenue on either a per-click or per-thousand-impressions basis. Google is also currently beta-testing a cost-per-action based service.
Google utilizes its search technology to serve ads based on website content, the user's geographical location, and other factors. Those wanting to advertise with Google's targeted ad system may sign up through AdWords. AdSense has become a popular method of placing advertising on a website because the ads are less intrusive than most banners, and the content of the ads is often relevant to the website.

It currently uses JavaScript code to incorporate the advertisements into a participating site. If it is included on a site which has not yet been crawled by the Mediabot, it will temporarily display advertisements for charitable causes
known as public service announcements (PSAs). (Note that the Mediabot is a separate crawler from the Googlebot that maintains Google's search index.)

Many sites use AdSense to monetize their content and some webmasters work hard to maximize their own AdSense income. They do this in three ways:

They use a wide range of traffic generating techniques including but not limited to online advertising.

They build valuable content on their sites; content which attracts AdSense ads and which pay out the most when they get clicked.
They use copy on their websites that encourage clicks on ads. Note that Google prohibits people from using phrases like "Click on my AdSense ads" to increase click rates. Phrases accepted are "Sponsored Links" and "Advertisements".

The source of all AdSense income is the AdWords program which in turn has a complex pricing model based on a Vickrey second price auction, in that it commands an advertiser to submit a sealed bid (not observable by competitors). Additionally, for any given click received, advertisers only pay one bid increment above the second-highest bid.

How AdSense works

Each time a visitor visits a page with an AdSense tag, a piece of JavaScript writes an iframe tag, whose src attribute includes the URL of the page. Google's servers use a cache of the page for the URL or the keywords in the URL itself to determine a set of high-value keywords. (Some of the details are described in the AdSense patent.) If keywords have been cached already, ads are served for those keywords based on the AdWords bidding system.

Step by Step Adsense Guide

Google AdSense is the program that can give you advertising revenue from each page on your website—with a minimal investment in time and no additional resources.
AdSense delivers relevant text and image ads that are precisely targeted to your site and your site content. And when you add a Google search box to your site, AdSense delivers relevant text ads that are targeted to the Google search results pages generated by your visitors’ search request.

Earn more revenue

You can maximize your revenue potential by displaying Google ads on your website. Google puts relevant CPC (cost-per-click) and CPM (cost per thousand impressions) ads through the same auction, and lets them compete against one another. The auction takes place instantaneously, and, when it’s over, AdSense automatically displays the text or image ad(s) that will generate the maximum revenue for a page -- and the maximum revenue for you.

Get started in minutes

Becoming an AdSense publisher is simple. All it takes is a single online application. Once you're approved, AdSense takes only minutes to set-up. Just copy and paste a block of HTML and targeted ads start showing up on your website.

Access thousands of advertisers

With Google's extensive advertiser base, we have ads for all categories of businesses-and for practically all types of content, no matter how broad or specialized. And since Google provides the ads, you have no advertiser relationships to maintain.

The AdSense program represents advertisers ranging from large global brands to small and local companies. Ads are also targeted by geography, so global businesses can display local advertising with no additional effort. And you can use AdSense in many languages.

Make extra money with a Google search box

Place a Google search box on your site, and you can start monetizing the results from web searches. Not only does this keep your users on your website longer—since they can search from where they are—it takes just minutes to implement. And you pay nothing to participate.

Show only appropriate ads

Google's ad review process ensures that the ads you serve are not only family-friendly, but also comply with our strict editorial guidelines. We combine sensitive language filters, your input, and a team of linguists with good hard common sense to automatically filter out ads that may be inappropriate for your content. What's more, you can block competitive ads and choose your own default ads. It's your show from start to finish.

  • Competitive Filter

Enables you to filter out specific competitors or specific advertisers

  • Contextual Filter

Eliminate delivery of ads that would be inappropriate to serve on pages

  • Editorial Review

All Google ads are reviewed and approved before being served on your pages

  • Customizable default ads

In the unlikely event that Google is unable to serve targeted ads on your
page, we provide the option to display a default ad of your choice

Customize AdSense for your site

You can customize the appearance of ads, choosing from a wide range of colors and templates. Ditto with your search results page. Your reports are customizable, too. Flexible reporting tools let you group your pages in any way you want so you can view your results by URL, domain, ad type, category and more to learn where your earnings are coming from.

Apply now

You can run Google ads on all or just some of your pages, using AdSense strategically to complement your direct sales team. You'll pay nothing, spend little time on set-up, and have no maintenance worries. You can use AdSense for a day, a month or for however long it pleases you to make a profit-it's your choice.

How to choose a Good affiliate program for your site

Affiliate programs are those affiliate resources for webmasters to earn commission
(calculated based on the %)and make money (pay per click) with their websites.

To choose proper affiliate programs to make money with your web site, the first
important step is to find a theme affiliate related to your site content. If
you want to make more money online, it is apparent that you should select high
commission affiliates (in high percentage) or the best affiliate programs -
the higher commission affiliates. This is the second step. The next step is
to put the affiliate link code to your website (where it is as attractive as
possible). Normally you do not need to do anything more but wait for your commission
to be paid to you (normally it is paid fortnightly or monthly) when the earned
commission is over a certain amount of money.

However it is not all yet! As affiliate statistics show that only about 5-10%
statistics are real. As a webmaster, you need to check your traffic stats and
monthly earnings regularly to make sure the link code works well. If an affiliate
program link code never generate any traffic to the affiliated site or it is
much less than it should be, there is no reason for you to keep the banner or
text link code on your site. That's to say that you should find another affiliate
program to replace it.

The affiliate programs directory and guides collected the effective affiliate
marketing programs with high commission and they are well organized in several
categories (casino, adult, gambling & betting, online sale, search engine,
etc.) for webmasters to make more money online.

In basic terms, all you need to do when you join an affiliate program is add
a special link containing your unique affiliate ID to your website or blog.
Whenever someone follows that affiliate link from your website and makes a purchase,
you are credited with a commission for that sale.

Affiliate programs are good for you because you make money from your website
visitors without having to worry about shipping and payment processing. They
are also pretty good for the owner of the affiliate program too as they are
receiving traffic and sales that they wouldn't normally have received if they
hadn't come via your website.

If you already have your own website, it should be easy to find affiliate programs
that complement the theme of your site. For example, if you have a travel website
you can sign up with Commission Junction for free and promote companies such
as Expedia and National Geographic. Or you could sign up with the first ever
online affiliate program, Amazon and make money by reviewing and recommending
travel books. Regardless of your website's niche you should be able to find
some sort of affiliate program to help monetize your traffic.

Most good affiliate programs will provide you with banners, images, links,
sample ads and sometimes even articles and emails to help you promote their
products. They should also have a support system for you to ask questions, plus
statistics and a reporting function to allow you to view your click-throughs
and sales.

Affiliate programs for companies that sell physical products such as books
and CDs, or travel related products such as hotels, flights and car hire tend
to pay a small amount of commission, for example 5%.

If you aren't lucky enough to be getting thousands of visitors to your site
each day and you want to make lots of money from affiliate programs the best
plan of action is to choose an affiliate program that has a combination of the
following

1. A high commission

2. A residual income

3. Multiple Tiers

Affiliate programs offering a high commission are usually selling intangible
goods. Examples of these include e-books, software and membership sites. The
owners of these affiliate programs can afford to give large commissions because
although there is a cost associated with producing the product, the cost generally
stays the same regardless of whether the owner sells 100 copies or 1000 copies.
This is why these affiliate programs can offer a commission of 50% and sometimes
more, meaning that you can sell less of these products and make more money than
you would with a traditional affiliate program offering a 5% commission.

Affiliate programs offering a residual income tend to be those that offer a
service such as web hosting or access to a membership site. For example if you
direct a visitor from your site to a web hosting company that offers an affiliate
program with residual income and that person purchases a hosting package, you
would receive a commission every single month, for as long as that person stays
with that hosting company. The power of this is that you can build up a more
reliable income, which means a steady pay packet during the months when new
sales are slow.

Finally, a multi tier affiliate program is one that rewards you for recruiting
your own affiliates. As well as receiving a commission for sales that are made
through your affiliate link, you will also receive a percentage of the sales
made from the affiliates that you've recruited yourself.

So it pays to promote affiliate programs, but it pays even more to be choosy
when deciding on which affiliate programs to promote. Choosing programs that
pay high commissions and offer multi tier or residual income can make a huge
difference to your bank balance at the end of each month.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of considerations, but bearing these
in mind, should enable you to choose a program with a saleable product, and
reasonable income potential. To end on a note of warning, there are still a
few programs out there that are the internet equivalent of the chain letter,
no product, deposit $10 in xyz acct to join, and soon you will have hundreds
of people giving you $10 each. Yeah right!!! , the majority of people have heard
it all before { like those e mails telling you that have just won the Peruvian
$10 million dollar lottery which you didnt even enter } and will give programs
like this a wide berth, and so should you.

what is Afffiliate Marketing??

Simply put, affiliate marketing is all the ads you see while you are surfing
the internet. All the banners, text links to products or services in emails,
advertisment pop-ups, etc. People join a company that sells a product or service
online such as Target stores, or Amazon.com to advertise for them. This is called
becoming an affiliate for that retailer. Its completely free and takes about
2 minutes to join via the retailers website. Most of the retailers you see online
that sell something be it a product or service, offers an affiliate program
that again is completely free to join, and equally as easy. More on that in
later posts. When you join these affiliate programs they give you a series of
banner ads, and various other ads to promote the retailer with. You simply distribute
the ad in a variety of ways (more on that later as well) and everytime someone
clicks on your ad, visits the retailer and buys something or signs up for a
service, you get a commision on that sale. It could be a straight $100.00 for
every sale, or just a percentage of the sale price such as 50% commision.

I know this was a lot of information all at once. but if you come back often
and read it step by step, you will slowly begin to understand exactly how all
this works, and hopefully get the urge to get out there and try it!

Come back often! This blog will be updated very frequently with the newest
information and techniques.
