Art.com Affiliate Program

The Art.com (previously known as ArtUFrame) affiliate program allows you to earn commissions on referred sales of art reprints and frames. Their online store is very well designed, offering an excellent selection, simple navigation, and easy ordering.

Program Details:
Their affiliate program is administered by LinkShare, which handles both sales tracking and reporting. They have decreased their affiliate commission rate to 10% (previously 15%) for all purchases.

Visit Art.com

Their affiliate site contains a large number of tips for promoting the program, as well as back issues of their affiliate newsletter. Various graphics are also made available for affiliate use.

Checks are issued monthly once commissions have reached $50, however, only after Art.com's credit card charge back period has passed.

Several complaints were logged when Art.com dropped their referral commissions, however, overall feedback on the program has been fair.

PayPal.com

PayPal.com offers a unique, new service that allows anyone to send payment to any one else in the United States simply by 'beaming' money by email. Based on their research in encryption, PayPal.com has come up with a completely secure way to pay anyone simply by sending them an email message telling them how much you have paid them. The recipient then registers for a free PayPal.com account themselves, and will be greeted with the payment already in their account.

Sign up for PayPal and start accepting credit card payments instantly.

Program Details:
PayPal.com offers a limited affiliate program to promote this service. More of a tell-a-friend program actually. They offer to pay you $5 for every person you refer to sign-up for the program. Since the service is completely free, the people you refer do not need to purchase a thing in order for you to earn a commission. However, they must deposit $100 into their account, and also join PayPal's money market fund. Both of these additions to their requirements have added a very significant hurdle to the sign-up process.

Luckily, to give the people you refer even more incentive to sign up, they do receive a $5 bonus for joining. So, in the end, for referring someone to PayPal.com, you earn $5 for the referral, and the person you refer earns $5 for joining PayPal.com, making a deposit and setting up a money market account.

An additional warning for this program is that with all of the recent success their program has had, it seems at times that their secure servers have been overloaded, resulting in broken graphics or failed page loads at times.

Feedback on this program was very positive originally, with some affiliates reporting that it is one of the easiest programs to earn commissions from. However, with the new requirements to deposit $100 and set up a money market fund, several affiliates have commented that their earnings have dropped to $0 per month, hence the new lower rating.

Program Details:
Chitika's eMiniMalls has received a lot of interest recently thanks to positive reports about it's ease of use and setup, as well as revenue potential. Chitika eMiniMalls brings a new way of shopping to your website while you get paid.

Basically, eMiniMalls, as the name implies, allows you to easily embed a small product shopping area on any page on your website.

Chitika, by default, uses manual targeting of products to your pages. For each page, you can enter a keyword, or series of keywords, that match the products you would like to promote, and Chitika will show the best matches. Since the ads are manually targeted by default, the program is in compliance with Google's Terms & Conditions for AdSense, and makes an excellent compliment to that program. Chitika does offer an contextual matching option if you are not running AdSense and prefer it. You will need to contact them after joining the program to enable this however.

Chitika's eMiniMall can be easily modified to fit the look and feel of your site. A wide variety of sizes and shapes are available, and colors can be modified to match your site. Generally, the eMiniMall will include a photo of the product, it's description, links to Best Deals, and a search capability, all in easy to use rollover tabs. It should be noted that searches performed in the eMiniMall do not leave your site. Very slick.

Chitika generates revenue on a pay-per-click basis when your visitors click on the links in the Best Deals section, or the product itself. Revenue share is 60% currently. Note that Chitika does audit clicks to remove duplicate or other suspicious clicks. Some webmasters have reported the audit percentage to be quite low (10% or so) - others as high as 40-50%. The amount of clicks that are audited will be determined by your traffic quality for the most part.

Payment terms are Net 30 after the audit process, and Paypal is an available payment option. Reporting for Chitika has been improved recently and now offers channel tracking. Fully audited numbers update at the end of the month during the pay cycle. although these are sometimes delayed - an area Chitika appears to be working to improve on.
Visitor Feedback:
Overall user feedback has been positive about Chitika's eMiniMalls product. Many webmasters are finding it to be an excellent addition to their sites, especially product specific pages. There were some initial concerns about slow payments, but Chitika seems to have worked this out, and although still a bit slower than average, there have been no reports of payment problems.

If you already have many pages that are geared to specific products for other affiliate programs, Chitika may allow you to greatly increase your revenue and results. Click values have been reported to us as in the $0.20 to $0.50 range generally, but over $1.00 in some cases, with overall CPMs reported in the $4 to $60 range, depending on how well the appropriate products are targeted. Several webmasters have commented that Chitika represents the best new revenue opportunity since AdSense. Chitika ad units can be used along side Google Adsense.

Program Details:
Previously, partners only received commissions for books they directly linked to, and then only if the person purchased right from the entry page. Now, Amazon pays 5% commissions on all books, and up to 15% on books you directly link to.

Additionally, Amazon has also recently begun selling CDs, videos and other items, adding to your income potential (which they offer 5% commissions on). They also are offering first time buyer bonuses, allowing you to earn additional commissions for sending new customers Amazon's way. The bonuses range from $20 to over $5000, in addition to the normal commissions you receive on their purchases.

Sales are tracked through unique affiliate ID numbers, with an email update being sent each week detailing your results. Checks are issued quarterly, once commissions have reached $10. (The Amazon Affiliate Agreement does state $100, but they are currently paying at $10. This is of course subject to change at any time).

One downside of the Amazon program is that their affiliate program is the largest, meaning that you compete with thousands upon thousands of other web sites. Also, the Amazon.com brand name is so well known, that it is beginning to work against affiliates, since customers go directly to the Amazon site to make their purchases.

Overall feedback on the Amazon.com affiliate program has been quite positive.
However, with the growth of their program in terms of number of affiliates, many
affiliates have complained that their commissions have been decreasing over time.
It seems Amazon.com's brand may be so strong that it actually reduces some affiliates
ability to sell, since most of their visitors already know about Amazon.com.
